Go Karts!

Okay, so my parents live in a small town called "Smithville" in MO...and its awesome!!! Its close to a lake, and all these cool trails. But one of the coolest things about smithville is that the elementary school has "Summer School" for all the kids, but its just fun classes they can take, like Yoga and Shop. And if they don't miss a day the school district will give them 50 dollars! Sweet Huh? Anyways, my brother got this "Go Kart" making kit so Brad, Isaac, Gunnar, and Lucy all put it together! It was sweet!

"Slack by name...not by nature"

My Mom's maiden name is "Slack", and whenever anyone asked my Grandpa what his last name was he would always say, "Slack by name...not by nature". We had a "Slack Family reunion" last week in Nauvoo, and let me tell you... there was anything but "slacking" going on! We did a 3 mile trek, family choir, and we even raced Go Karts! It was a blast. It made me really think how important family is. After I was pregnant with Lucy I was thinking, "man, I don't know how many more times I can do this", however, after being at the reunion I was thinking, "man, my children need siblings so they can support each other and have someone to turn to". It was really cool to be around so much family!

A Day that will Live in Infamy!

Yesterday, June 6th, 2010. A date which will live in infamy. Lucy Jean Meldrum suddenly and deliberately, what had to have been at least 10 steps. That is right. She skipped the timid 1 or two step lean forward then fall stage. She went straight into what we call...Awesomeness.

We have captured this amazing footage, and edited to provide the appropriate mood.

Yep, we figure that with training, practice, eating right, and sleeping well, we can enter her into the next summer Olympics.

ROCK ON LUCY!

We will we will Rock Moab!

So Brad and I ran the Moab half marathon for the second time in our lives! The first time we ran it was two years ago when we were engaged, and this time we are now older, cooler, hotter, more responsible, and in the best shape of our lives!!! We actually beat are previous time. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful race, and now we are resting our muscles beautifully!
